The Characters

Renton (Ewen Mcgregor) – Renton is addicted to drugs but he is also aware of the risks. He is much more cynical, more clever and more self-assured than the rest of his friends. He is a quite good-looking boy.

Begbie (Robert Caryle) – Begbie is an alcoholic and very violent man. All his friends are afraid of him. He thinks that taking drugs spoils your body, but he drowns himself with whisky.

Diane (Kelly Mcdonald) – she is the girl who Renton falls in love with. She is a schoolgirl but she looks much older. She is not afraid of living at the edge.

Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) – he is a rather smart person but also a bit dominate. Sick boy is a relly nut, if he says something it is probably about James Bond movies.

Spud (Even Bremmer) – he seems like a nice boy but he doesn’t say much..You get the feeling that Spud is a innocent boy, who has been dragged along this road because he is week and not very smart person.

Tommy (Kevin Mcidd) – at the beginning he’s a rock for all his friends. He doesn’t drink much, doesn’t lie and he doesn’t harm anyone. But he also gets stuck in the drug business.
