Finally Manowar's become really serious again, not much of the
"Kings of metal/Death to false metal" attitude left, if anything
at all. Oh yeah I forgot.. "Metal warriors" :P Though that one
is pretty good I must admit.
The first track is a pretty long one, about 28 and a half minute,
it's divided into 8 parts and it's actually got a lot of variation -
just one thing: remove 10-15 minutes and I'd call it a masterpiece,
it has not very necessary drum, guitar and bass (I think anyway) solos
that you could remove easily.
Then you have "Metal warriors" and it's the typical Manowar "heavy metal"
kind of song, actually one of their better compositions.
A rather fast-paced one, "Ride the dragon", a type of song you wanted Manowar
to do all the time they messed around with their "oh yeah kings of metal we're
gonna kick your ass" stuff.
"Spirit horse of the Cherokee", definitely too long intro but a very heavy tune
indeed.
"Burning" is in my opinion one of Manowar's darkest and heaviest tunes yet.
"The power of thy sword" has some really fast riffing, something of a classic here.
"The demon's whip" also has some dark influences in the lyrics, very heavy this one.
"Master of the wind" is a ballad that I don't think quite fit in here,
and besides it's not Manowar's thing to do ballads.
None of the previous albums were really bad, but they weren't as good as
you expect but anyway this is huge improvement, one of the best albums
you can get from Manowar.
