Third album from british Yes, one of the true giants of progressive music. In the reivew
their first album (Yes) I stated that they hadn't found their style just yet, and that it
was a really uneven album. Well this is perhaps the first real step into the progressive
direction, and one of their strongest albums to date.
While not being as progressive as the later albums they released during the 70's, it's
still one hell of an album. You get to hear some great playing from all members; Chris
Squire's bass is crystal clear in the mix, and Steve Howe who not only throw out lots of
great electric guitar riffs - he does some marvelous acoustic guitar playing in the
instrumental live jam "The clap". Not to mention Bill Bruford who totally dominates
behind his kit, and Jon Anderson with his angel-like voice (yeah I know that sounded kinda
feminine but then again, Jon does too).
Well enough ass-licking, buy the album and see (listen) for yourself.
