    Rating:
First album from CoF, the magnificent british black metal band. Although this is not as good as the later releases, they didn't have very good guitar players at this time (they play the riffs ok, but the solos suck) and the female "talking" vocals aren't that good either.
Still a pretty decent album, specially great tunes are "The forest whispers my name", "Principle of evil made flesh" and "The black goddess rises".
For you who have never heard black metal, I can tell ya this is mostly extremely fast played music, but there actually are slower, more listenable riffs every now and then included in this stuff. And for the vocals.. well ordinary metal fans usually hates this kind of extreme shrieking/screaming vocals, but I think they fit in pretty good.
Do not buy this as the starting CoF cd, get "Dusk and her embrace" & "Cruelty and the beast" first.
