    Rating:
That heavy riffing.. King Diamond's characteristic scream, and - that line "I was born in the cemetary - Under the sign of the moon..." doesn't take long time to settle down in you.
The classic debut album from danish Mercyful Fate, it gives us a lot of great heavy metal riffs along with great soloing and of course the extraordinary vocals from the "The King".
The lyrics are mostly about Satan and witchery, which caused many people calling this "black metal" although it's got nothing whatsoever to do with that genre.
All the tracks are awesome, although the production could be much better this is a metal masterpiece everyone should own. Classic 80's metal. Noteable is that when Metallica did their coveralbum "Garage Inc." in '98 they did a medley on 4 of the tracks (+ another one called "A corpse without soul") from this album. I think that says a lot about how big these guys are.
