Another norwegian metal band, not in the black metal area though, fortunately.
You could say Tristania play in the same league as their countrymen Theatre of
Tragedy, but more powerful, more energy - more fast-paced and not
as dark and depressive.
What we can expect here is many awesome melodies, but tons of heavy
riffs too. Often female - kinda opera - vocals but mostly dark male vox,
that sometimes (not always) are closer to black metal acts like Cradle of filth than
the brutal death-ish stuff ToT does (did). Also, they have some male
guest singers, that do some clean vocals on some of the tracks, and a lot of choirs of course.
This is an excellent album, nothing to complain about at all.
One of the better cd's I've bought so far this year.
