What?
"Profondo Giallo", what does that mean? Well, it's Italian, and giallo means yellow. Giallo is also the expression used for thrillers in Italy, and that phrase is in turn taken from a series of pulp paperbacks that came in yellow covers. But to foreigners it means the very special brand of Italian thriller-film that was made in large numbers during the seventies and reached an artistic peak in '75 with Dario Argento's excellent Profondo Rosso (Deep Red), hence the name of these pages.

About the author of these pages

Profondo Giallo Head QuartersMy name is Tommy Olsson and my residence is Västerås, Sweden. I formerly worked as a fork-lift truck driver, but now I am studying computer science at Mälardalen University. Film is my main interest, especially European film and above all, Italian film. Good non-euro film is CronenbergLynchEdWoodJackHillTarantinoJohnWatersetc, and, of course, any Philippine or Indonesian exploitation film. Overhyped megabudget films (you know which ones I mean) go by unseen, while I find the news of Alex De La Iglesia making a Fu Manchu-film (!!!) very exciting. Aside from film I like weird music, good literature, 60s & 70s interior decoration and many other areas of art. Do not hesitate to send e-mail with corrections, additional info, appreciation, questions etc.
