The X-Files Mysteries

This page is an expression of my total fascination of the phenomena know as The X-Files. Despite the disliking of my parents (which I think is a part of a conspiracy), I think this is one of the best television shows made during the 90's.

I will not write down page upon page with reviews of the episodes, you can find those on any of the very good sites that exists - of which I have listed a few under links, below.

This site's intention is to highlight and speculate on some of the questions that I have asked myself during the time I have been an fan, and also to highlight some of the greatest moments in X-File history so far.

Here's what you find on this page.

The extraterrestial species

I have tried to distinguish the different species of aliens that appears in the X-Files. Since I have not yet seen all episodes, I might have missed some and be wrong about others, but this is what I have come up with. Due to the length of this essay, I have put it on a separate page here.

My Favorite X-Files episodes

I only said I wouldn't write page after page with reviews, I didn't say I wouldn't write anything at all about the episodes :-)

So far, my favourite season is definitely season 5. With episodes as "Unusual suspects", "Chinga", "Kill Switch", "Post-Modern Prometheus", "Bad blood" and "Kitsunegari" this season has been a wonder. The only eps that comes close in the previous seasons are "Ice", "Nisei / 731", "Piper Maru / Apocrypha", "The Musings of a CSM" and "Small Potatoes". I think that what makes these 5th season episodes special is that there is very much humour in them, and also often a slight different angel of approach in them.

The frankensteinesque story of "Post-Modern Prometheus" hit me right in the heart, and the absolutely wonderful ending with Mulder and Scully dancing at the Cher-concert and turning into a cartoon image was - as I said, wonderful. I guess I have started to become a "shipper", but not so much in the sense that I want Mulder and Scully to get a relationship, but that I have started to notice and enjoy the moments of "flirtation" between them. Talking of which, remember in "Small Potatoes" when Eddie van Blundth had morphed into Mulders appearance and was about to seduce Scully. Now, I wonder, does that count? :-)

The twist in "Bad blood" to see the same events seen through both Scullys and Mulders eyes was hilarious. To Scully, Mulder was a total sloppy person, with no style and way-out theories. To Mulder, Scully was a total everlasting sceptic and pedant that is turned on by buckteethed country sheriffs. Well, in the end of the episode, they manage to make their stories correspond. Atleast except the buckteeth.

"Chinga" was a chilling X-Files version of "Chucky the Evil doll". Ok, the end was expected but still, the show was very good and that doll was real frightening. I jump ten feet when I hear the words "I wanna play!"

My Favorite X-Files quotes

Mulder: "Well, put on something black and sexy, and prepare to do some funky poaching."

- To the Lone Gunmen in "Momento Mori"

Cancer man: "The fiercest enemy is the one who has nothing more to lose."

- Explaining why Bounty Hunter should heal Mulders mother in "Herrenvolk"

Cancer man: "Life is like a box of chocolate."

- Finding his biographic book altered when finally published ("Musings of a CSM")

Evil doll: "I wanna play!"

- When you hear this, run for it! ("Chinga")

Mulder: "No-one has jurisdiction over the truth!"

- Rightly accusing his superiors in "Fallen Angel"

X-Files for true believers

A very good site. The reviews of the episodes are extremely thought-through. Too bad not all episodes have reviews yet though.

The FBI database - X-Files

Another very good site. Got lots of stuff around the show, humour, trivia and much more.
