Promising pressure by midfielders not enough,

as Skjutet was held to a draw against Kärralund in their first match away of the season. It was an entertaining evening with both tempo and intensity fluctuating throughout the match. Kärralund opened the scoreline just 3 minutes in with a corner that went almost straight into the net. Skjutet equalized when Patrik Larsson through a brave soloeffort slid through the defense and sharply put the ball away. Just before halftime Kärralund came back and took advantage of some poor marking and opened up the lead again. 15 minutes into the second half things turned around when first Bo Aztor from close range fired in 2-2 for his third of the year, and shortly thereafter playing manager Patrik Spång put Skjutet ahead for the first time with his blastering left foot. Another corner then put things equal again, and at a bad pass from keeper Jerker, the right forward easily made it 4-3 Kärralund. Fortunately, Patrik Spång put in his second of the year, on a hard header from a corner from left.
Some changes in the lineup were made from the opener last Thursday, when Kristian Hansson, thanks to an inspiring second half and a goal last time around, switched with Andreas Engel. Also, Fredrik Skager played next to Bo Aztor up front, since Jesper Palmqvist's foot not yet was completely healed.
The first fifteen minutes was probably Skjutets worst in a long time. No real structure and little intensity led to Kärralund's quick attackers successful runs on both wings. But after the equaliser Skjutet started to put high pressure on the midfield, thus gaining new confidence, and produced a number chances, most of them missed by a narrow margin. This crowdpleasing and offensive football opened up a gap at one point just before halftime, when bad marking put their left forward (wearing sneakers) free with the keeper, and he made no mistake. The second half produced some high-class football from Skjutet, as they managed to keep the pressure on and make two goals within 15 minutes. The one situation Skjutet couldn't quite handle in this match, was corners coming in from the right. They constantly led to chances. This proved once again, as Skjutet were unable to clear a hard struck corner after 65 minutes, and 3-3 was a fact. As if that wasn't enough, they made 4-3 just after that, on a easy goal, coming from a back end pass 16 minutes from time, that the world's geatest charity organisations would have been proud of. This unfortunate error was followed by a massive press by the green-white heroes, that never gave up, and showed very good morale. With 5 minutes left manager Patrik Spång lifted the team up on his shoulders and headed in 4-4 off a corner.
The ref ended the match when Bo Aztor was about to break free one-on-one with the keeper, something that very much sums the match up. Skjutet came close, and should have finished it off a lot sooner, with that many chances missed. Kärralund had three quality players, the goalkeeper and both forwards. BK Skjutet came up with a team effort, and significant was the willpower and with the intensity they played. Manager Patrik Spång and Patrik Larsson made the green-white jerseys most proud this evening.
One point gained, but two points lost. Still, a good enough start of season. Next match is next Wednesday facing Virgo. We'll have to wait and see if it means vertigo from fast football from vernal players, or if it's more veritable to call them versatile vermin ./JP
